This is the case regardless whether I use 32-bit or 64-bit Java. # If you would like to submit a bug report, please visit: # An error report file with more information is saved as hs_err_pid4766.log # Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (1.5.0_11-b03 mixed mode) # An unexpected error has been detected by HotSpot Virtual Machine: By doing so, I have disabled compiz visual effects, installed libstdc++5_3.3.6-18_b, and upgraded Java to the latest version ( JRE 圆4 1.6.0 u18), in the process. I have successfully installed and activated SPSS 16.0 on my computer, running Ubuntu Karmic Koala 64-Bit. I'm staying up late and pulling my hair out over this issue.
SPSS 16 32 BIT DOWNLOAD
get i386 version of libstdc++.so.6: '' and download it for example to '/home/me/myfolder/'Ĥ.
SPSS 16 32 BIT HOW TO
download and install 'getlibs' script - use Google to find it and learn how to install itĢ. In order to install that version of libstdc in a 64bit environment do the following steps:ġ. The problem is that SPSS needs libstdc++.so.5 version for i386 architecture. I had the same problem (SPSS 17, ubuntu 9.10 amd64) and luckily found a solution that works! :p Than i removed it and followed these instructions (because I have 64bit architecture). now it's posting the massage about the lack of libstdc++.so.5 Spss worked for me under jaunty but after upgrading to 9.10 it has stopped. Notes: the file that you should edit does not have extension, so, dont be afraid, nano will recognize that this is a file and not a subdirectory. (you can search the icon in /opt/SPSSInc/SPSS16/bin/ or also in the internet) To quit from nano (console based text editor), press ctrl+x, then "y", then enter. #"/home/rho/Programas Instalados/SPSSInc/SPSS16/bin/spss"Įxec "/home/rho/Programas Instalados/SPSSInc/SPSS16/bin/SPSS" this example i have already pasted the fixing line to the code. In the console you should see something like this:Ĭd "/home/rho/Programas Instalados/SPSSInc/SPSS16" (this command will edit the file "spss" in the "/opt/SPSSInc/SPSS16/bin/" subdirectory) (assuming that you already have installed spss 16)ġ) Open a terminal (menu:applications, accesories, terminal) Hello, if you have ubuntu, then you should do this:
SPSS 16 32 BIT CODE
so can someone simplify it for me?ĭo I just enter the code into the terminal? In the directions it also says "you need to edit \SPSS16\bin\spss and enter the following code after the "#!/bin/sh" line:" Does that mean I have to go into the spss folder and edit a file there? what is there? What is the name of that file? I would appreciate it if someone could simplify this for me.

is this the right forum section for this?Īs far as I know there are no Java based problems in 7.10. I didnt come up with any of this myself but I pieced it together from random searches. You can then create a launcher that will launch SPSS by using the command to \SPSS16\bin\spss rather than "SPSS" (in caps which is the regular launcher). you need to edit \SPSS16\bin\spss and enter the following code after the "#!/bin/sh" line:ĭon't ask me what that does I didn't come up with it myself. It will run fine if you turn off compiz but with compiz on it doesn't display properly. To be able to run the Java based installer run the following command:Īs far as I can see this only needs to be done once before running the installer and not thereafter to run the program.Īpparently SPSS also doesn't like compiz. The installer is Java based and there currently is a bug that appears to cause a lot of Java based stuff to fail on Hardy.

There were a few quirks I had to deal with to get it all going.
SPSS 16 32 BIT WINDOWS
At first impression everything works fine though the processing of analyses seems somewhat slower than on windows (same machine). I just wanted to let anyone interested know that SPSS 16 for linux does work.
